upon joining and $200 in one year which is
nontransferable and non-refundable. Youth

and less than 21 years old) membership costs
$275, payable $75 upon joining and $200 after
one year (youth dues are $15 a month; they
are not required to purchase stock, but if
they do not own at least one share, monthly
dues are $8). Members are required to purchase
twelve shares of stock at $100 each. An easy
purchase plan of $10 a month is available.
All stock is refundable upon termination
of membership . Monthly dues are $15, (plus
$1 "dues differential" for each
share of stock not owned below the twelve
required) which includes membership in the Soaring
Society of America, "Soaring" magazine,
and the monthly CCSC newsletter "The Frequent
Flyer". A $15 credit per flight is applied
for members who crew one weekend day a month.

application (72K PDF).
Full membership is required to act as
pilot in command of a CCSC club aircraft.
This requirement is not in any way related
to FAA regulations about pilot authority,
it is a consequence of our club insurance
policy. We are a true club, a member service
group that does not exist to make a profit.
As such, we benefit from the SSA group insurance
policy for clubs. Visiting pilots may fly
dual flights with a CCSC instructor under
the same guidelines as guest
rides.

cents/100' tow fee. Note: The $15
hookup fee is subtracted from the above costs
for members who fulfill their crew requirement
that month. The chart above shows cost before
crew credit. Example: For a 2-33 tow to 2000';

Anyone sixteen or older, in reasonable health,
can obtain a sailplane license. We have students
as young as twelve, as well as senior citizens
learning to soar. Neither a power plane rating
nor a medical certificate are required. Typically,
25/30 flights are required to solo, and from
40/100 flights will enable you to acquire your
license. Power rated pilots can transition
to gliders much quicker. All instruction is
free, you pay only for the tow (see flying
costs above).
